When it comes down to taking a ride on public transport, common courtesy is key to ensure that every passenger gets to enjoy the convenience of a public bus or subway train. Despite that, passengers continue to leave train carriages and busses in a state of disarray by littering or leaving stains on seats, even in light of repeated warnings by service operators.

Woman drenches MRT floor by washing her hands

But one woman recently appears to have taken things to a whole new level, after commuters on a local MRT train caught her throwing caution to the wind before washing her hands on the carriage. The video clip, which was shared by public transportation service operator RapidKL, was accompanied by a Tweet to remind passengers to not to emulate the woman’s actions.

“We have not upgraded our trains to be used as a place to wash your hands. Please do not emulate her actions, and let us all aspire to become more responsible and ethical when riding aboard the train.”

In the short clip, the woman could be seen removing a bottle of water from her tote bag before uncapping it and tipping its contents over her other hand. Blithely indifferent towards the fact that she would inevitably cause a mess on the train’s floors, she proceeded to wash her hand, leaving rivulets of water to puddle and trickle along the train carriage. Her mask also appears to be tucked under her nose.

Mess asides, the water could also pose as a potential slipping hazard to those who are standing on-board the train, or for those who are handicapped.

Netizens call her out for inconsiderate behaviour

Netizens were similarly unimpressed, with many condemning the woman’s lack of common sense and courtesy.
