Just over a week ago, news broke out about an “Apology Tour” that will feature American comedians Chrissie Mayr and Jocelyn Chia. The said comedy show was allegedly supposed to happen in August at Live House located in TREC.
TREC management clears the air about “Apology Tour” featuring Jocelyn Chia
According to a post by Chrissie Mayr, the comedian who supported Jocelyn Chia’s remarks about MH370, she announced that an “Apology Tour” will be held this August on her Instagram post. The “Apology Tour” was said to feature both her and Jocelyn Chia and thanked Malaysians for giving them the attention. However, the announcement she posted did not include any links to a ticketing site.
Subsequently, local newspaper NST has reported that TREC general manager, Kelvin Lam, stepped in and cleared the air about the situation. In a brief text message, he announced that there is “no such event”. Kelvin revealed saying that the announcement made is entirely fake and Live House has closed down since 2019. He emphasised that Live House has been replaced by a new tenant and is completely unrelated to Live House.
“The current club owner is a new tenant and has lodged a police report over the matter”, he said.
Prior to this, Jocelyn Chia was criticised by Malaysians for using MH370 as material for her comedy act. Despite the backlash, she remains unapologetic and mocked the Malaysian news reports saying that she isn’t the only one making jokes about the missing aircraft.
Here’s a reminder to not speculate any false news regarding the issue and not click into any links as the event isn’t real.
