As Lunar New Year is around the corner, local watch and wallet company, Revelot has come together with local fashion brand, BEHATI for a watch collection!
Revelot & BEHATI create Mahjong inspired watches
Dated back in the 19th- century, Mahjong is a 144-tile game based on Chinese characters and symbols. It’s often played by four players, with its objective toto build a complete set of tiles by drawing and discarding tiles until a winning hand is formed. With its cultural significance it has towards the community, these two local companies have decided to create a watch, inspired by the popular tile game.

Speaking to Wau Post, Kel Wen, the founder of BEHATI shared that the watch they’ve created perfectly encapsulates the essence of Mahjong.
“We’ve combined Chinese calligraphy numeric with iconic Chinese characters from traditional Mahjong pieces onto the dial”, he said.
Tying in a subtle tribute to the year of the dragon, he added that the characters and numeric used would then form the dragon tile set in a Mahjong game.

Limited edition, shipped worldwide
When asked about what was his favourite touch to the design of the watch, Kel Wen mentioned that it was the Chinese characters and numbers. However, what makes the watch most unique is that the numbering and Chinese characters in the watch would glow in the dark!

“We’re using SEIKO watch movement that’s imported from Japan, that’s one of the main reasons I trusted REVELOT with this collaboration”, revealed Kel Wen.
Available online and shipped worldwide, Kel Wen emphasised that the Mahjong series will not make a comeback after this season.
“We’d like to retain its value and rarity, hence it will not make a comeback”, he said.
