According to local newspaper NST, Asniza, aged 24 was the eldest amongst 4 siblings. Prior to the car crash, the Engineering graduate had made all her necessary arrangements to ensure that her convocation ceremony would go smoothly. From her outfit to her promise with friends to don their graduation robes together, it was clear that Asniza was looking forward to this day.

During her university days, Asniza actively participated in the Reserve Officer Training Unit (PALAPES) and was awarded the role of a junior officer.

However, Asniza’s dream to attend her own convocation were shattered. And on October 3, 2023, a tragic car accident that occurred at Kilometer 119, Jalan Tanjung Laboh, Banang Jaya, Batu Pahat, had taken her life.

Fate had other plans for her

“Who are we to defy fate? Allah SWT loved her more”, said Asniza’s mother adding that both her and her husband have accepted the fate of their daughter.

Knowing that it was her daughter’s dream to attend her convocation, they then gathered their courage and attended the ceremony on behalf of her. She revealed that the courage they gathered actually came from their late daughter as she always encouraged Asniza to be brave in everything that she does.

Despite the fact that she is no longer here with them, Siti expressed that their whole family are still immensely proud of everything she has achieved.

“I’m very proud to have raised a resilient, caring and responsible daughter”, she said, while collecting her daughter’s degree scroll at the ceremony held at the UMPSA Sports Complex.

The pain of losing a child is definitely painful and we hope that the family is able to walk out of this grief together.
