Kindness is a rare trait nowadays, especially in the midst of our country’s happenings. In addition to governing the country, Malaysia’s ministers have stepped up their game time and time again.

Now there’s no excuse to say we’re too busy to help another person in need! Deputy Finance Minister II, Steven Sim recently took to his Twitter to share a heartwarming piece.

His caption read, “My promise as the people’s representative is to always treat those in difficulty like my own family, no matter what race or religion.” The tweet shows a video where the minister is seen interacting with a family.

The video tells the story of a young couple faced with a challenging obstacle – having a child with a detrimental condition. It further introduces the young boy as Amin, who is suffering from a hole in his heart and requires surgery.

To correct his ailment, the cost for surgery would amount to a staggering RM65,000. For Amin’s family, the figure was too much to bear. After speaking to them, the Deputy Finance Minister decided to not just chip in, but settle the whole bill!

In the later clips of the video, Steven Sim is also seen present during the operation and assuring the boy. Finally, the video ends with showcasing the boy and the minister waving the Malaysian flag together, in a truly captivating sight.

Setting a remarkable example for the Malaysian people

Seeing a politician go out of his way to help those under his lead is a genuine inspiration. And, the citizens of the Internet also seem to agree with this sentiment, pouring in their praises for the minister.

Another minister related his previous experience working with Steven. “Although we were in different political streams, I’ve always respected his sincere drive. He has always been down to earth and would usually be one of the earliest to arrive. Salute you sir.” Besides, members of the public also thanked the minister for his kindness and conveyed their well wishes to him.

It’s always nice to see the ministers and people bonding together over shared moments like these. We hope more people will continue to get the aid they need!
