Pursuing an education in your field of choice is a dream for many young adults. However, that can also come at a cost for many families who may not necessarily have the means to fund their children in higher education institutions.

In the spirit of lending students facing monetary challenges to enroll into academic fields of their choice a hand, Malaysian personality Ms Puiyi has recently announced over her official Instagram profile that she will be establishing her first-ever scholarship fund in partnership with Educapital.

Ms Puiyi introduces RM4.3 million scholarship fund

Appropriately dubbed the ‘Ms Puiyi Scholarship Fund’, Puiyi explains that she will be distributing a total of $1,000,000 (RM4,390,500.00) in financial aid to eligible applicants. Speaking on her own personal experiences, she recounts how she had initially aspired to enroll into medical school and become a surgeon when she was younger.

“As someone growing up in the outskirts of Malaysia, my family is not privileged enough to fund my studies.”

To support herself, she worked day and night to earn a living through part time jobs and modelling gigs, while also concurrently attending classes in college. In fact, she points out how she would be in a number of different states every week owing to her work as a model.

“There were some times when I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t have proper meals,”

In spite of her best efforts, she did not wind up going through with a medical degree to become a surgeon as neither she nor her family could afford it, and she couldn’t find any scholarships on time.

Of course, that didn’t hamper her spirit as Puiyi went on to spearhead a number of her own businesses and now hopes to give back to society and help those who are facing similar circumstances as she did before.

Each successful applicant to receive USD $1,000

For those who are keen to apply, you may do so through the scholarship’s official website here. Puiyi adds that students from all across the globe are eligible, and will be granted $1,000 (RM4,392.50) that will go towards any field that they wish to pursue.

Additionally, they will also be provided to access to financial hardship grants, as well as access to business startup grants upon graduation!

According to the site, the scholarship is only applicable to new students wishing to enroll into university, and not ones that have already been enrolled in a course. With that said, all students across the world who have completed their high school studies are eligible. As for foreign students, they will be required to submit additional supporting documents for their application, but the site fails to specify what these documents may entail.
