French beauty trends and expertise were on display at In-Cosmetics Asia 2023

In-Cosmetics Asia, Asia’s leading trade fair for suppliers to the cosmetics industry, was held in Bangkok from 7 to 9 November. It brought together the world’s leading distributors of ingredients for the cosmetics and dietary supplements industry, as well as research experts. The show offers companies an opportunity to present and discover the latest technologies and major trends shaping the cosmetics sector. With almost 15,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors from all over the world, France was showcasing its recognised expertise in this field.

The France pavilion, organised by Business France, hosted 17 French companies under the Choose France banner, showcasing French excellence in the beauty sector: formulations, research and development laboratories, suppliers of raw materials or turnkey solutions, as well as the latest cutting-edge innovations.

The program for this highly anticipated Pavilion includes: Innovation, Natural, Health, Well-being and Sustainability.

France, global epicentre of innovation and elegance in the cosmetics industry

With its rich historical heritage, tradition of excellence and scientific expertise, France has long been a leader in the global cosmetics industry. Its scientific expertise, highlighted by its cutting-edge research institutions and laboratories, works with industries to develop innovative, cutting-edge ingredients, a symbol of quality, sophistication and elegance in the world of cosmetics.

A fast-growing French export sector

This influence is reflected in the figures, with the French cosmetics export sector recording sales of over €19 billion, with record growth of +18.8% in one year. Perfumery, with a growth rate of 30.2%, and make-up and skincare, with an increase of 11.6%, remain the most popular products and are behind this strong growth, since these two categories account for 85% of French exports in this sector, i.e. more than €16.5 billion reached by 2022.  The sector continues to improve its performance, anticipating new developments and constantly striving to innovate: they increased by +15% between January and May 2023, reaching €8,6 billion in 5 months.

In Asia, ‘Made in France’ formulations and products stand out and enjoy a good image with local consumers. In 2021, France was expected to be Thailand’s 2nd  largest supplier of cosmetics for the beauty industry, with a market share of 14.8% and a value of75.1 million. In all, +60% of the overall production of cosmetic products is exported.
