M’sian content creator showcases traditional outfits according to states in Malaysia
In her 20-second-long transition video on TikTok, Pudds has managed to showcase over 4 traditional outfits in Malaysia. She began the video by wearing normal everyday clothing and transitioned into a bright yellow outfit with head ornaments. She stated in her caption that the outfit she wore that represents Selangor is a Baju Kebaya Labuh.
Then, the camera panned to her all dressed up in a copper brown traditional attire that represents Kelantan. She shared that the attire is called pakaian Cik Siti Wan Kembang, inspired by the warrior queen herself, Cik Siti Wan Kembang. The attire is fashioned by three pieces of fabric, consisting of kain kemban, sarong songket and kain kelubung.
Following that, she changed into a Johor inspired traditional outfit known as the baju kurung teluk belanga. The outfit was said to be famous in Riau Islands and Teluk Belanga, which is now part of Singapore. Inspired by the British, the attire features a cekak musang, also known as button collars, which are usually adorned with gold or jewels. The sarung is tied in a style called ombak beralun, which highlights its simplicity and modesty.
Lastly, she changed into a traditional outfit meant for weddings, also known as baju pengantin. While there are plenty of variations when it comes to wedding attires, the clothing that she had on was for traditional weddings in Melaka. The attire is complemented with a headpiece known as Sanggul Lintang, along with a brace that is made with beads sequins.
Her short video that aims to promote the beauty of traditional outfits available in Malaysia was truly a success as it has garnered over 5.5million views in 2 days. Following that, plenty of netizens have praised her in the comments saying that she looks stunning in all the traditional outfits.
“I swear Pudds look so good in the traditional attires. I love our traditional outfits!”
