This Sarawakian chef is the youngest female chef in M’sia to receive a recognition from Michelin!

Michelin recognition is highly esteemed within the culinary industry and often serves as a mark of excellence. Hailing from Sarawak, chef Michelle Goh managed to garner a groundbreaking achievement by being the youngest Malaysian female chef to receive the Michelin Recognition!

Meet chef Michelle Goh, the youngest female chef in M’sia to receive Michelin Recognition!

Prior to receiving the Michelin Recognition, at the mere age of 23, Michelle had joined two Michelin-starred restaurant Suhrig, that was located in Bangkok. During her time in the restaurant, she was given the task to lead the pastry section, an amazing achievement at such a young age.

Following her journey, Michelle then partnered up with Thai chef, Pongcharn “Top” Russell where they run and manage their restaurant, Mia Restaurant in Bangkok. Nestled in the heart of Sukhumvit Soi 26 in Bangkok, Michelle’s dedication in her industry has allowed her to earn the title “Chef Patron”, which refers to a highly skilled and experienced chef who runs the kitchen and manages the restaurant.

Other than that, Michelle’s other accomplishments include being awarded with the “Young Chef of the Year” award, and her restaurant achieving the “Best Dessert Menu” by Bk Top Tables.

For the love of food

Telling her tales, Michelle, who came from the humble city of Kuching in Sarawak gained interest in the culinary world at a young age. Determined to develop her passion, she then headed to Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney to further her studies. And it was through her studies where she gained remarkable experience with renowned chefs including the esteemed Three-Hatted Eleven Bridge by Neil Perry in Australia.

Evidently, Michelle’s thirst for knowledge kept her on her toes as she utilised her limited free time to gain more knowledge with culinary experts like Anna Polyviou. Before landing her feet at the “land of smiles”, where she eventually created Mia Restaurant, Michelle headed over to the lion city, where she was under Jason Atherton.

Such a remarkable achievement for a young woman, and it’s safe to say that her future endeavours seem brighter than before! Boldly go, Michelle, as the saying goes, the world is your oyster.
