For those who are unfamiliar, Banana leaf rice is a traditional meal originating from South India. Consisting of various side dishes along with different condiments, diners are encouraged to savour the meal by using their hands to eat. Hailing all the way from Poland, Aga, who has been living in Malaysia for over 5 years was thrilled to welcome her parents to Malaysia.

“I told them it was ‘illegal’ to eat with a fork and spoon, they didn’t believe me. But they didn’t protest!”, she exclaimed.

Ordering the meal for her parents, she then told her parents that they should eat it with their hands and to her delight, her parents caught on rather quickly. Taking their first few bites, her parents were surprised at how good the food tastes.

Guiding them throughout the meal, Aga then told her parents,

“You need to brave and just grab more of it.”

She then demonstrated her way of enjoying the papadam, by crushing it into smaller bite sized pieces and mixing it into her rice and curry. Asking her dad if he thought it was good, he replied saying that it was sedap (delicious).

As her video amasses over 2 million views on TikTok, many netizens have commented on the video and here’s what some of them said:
