Unfortunately, local newspaper Harian Metro has reported that Blake has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer back on August 15. In a statement released by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the canine was rushed into the hospital on September 15, after finding that his condition has been deteriorating.

“Blake is currently battling lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects his lymphatic system”, said the statement.

Despite the hospital’s best efforts, Blake’s condition did not get any better and it wasn’t responding to any of the treatment provided. After a thorough discussion with Dr. Nur Alimah Rahman, a veterinary expert, the team has decided to put him to sleep.

“His condition was deteriorating rapidly, and there was no hope in treating it”, wrote the statement, highlighting that they hope that the decision wouldn’t prolong the suffering. And as of 4:38pm yesterday (September 18), the English Springer Spaniel has been put to sleep.

The canine was brought in from the United Kingdom and has been a part of the JBPM team since 2017. Since then, Blake has served in many searches, and made headlines after collapsing for working two days straight.

Blake’s passing definitely has an impact towards the JBPM family and they will always hold onto his contributions and services dearly.

Rest in peace Blake, thank you for all your contributions.
