Just yesterday (May 31), a woman was shocked to discover an abandoned newborn in a box at a bus station in Ipoh. As the woman was approaching the bus station, she was startled by the sound of a crying baby, urging her to take a look at her surroundings. She then stumbled upon a box realising that a baby was in the box wrapped in a brown towel, with ants crawling all over the body.

After discovering the baby, the woman immediately alerted the local authorities and the baby was sent to the hospital in Taiping. According to the statement released by the Taiping Police District ACP, Razlam Bin Ab Hamid, he revealed that the baby was found at the Gopeng-Datuk Seri Maharaja Lela bus terminal at 10am in the morning.
Razlam revealed that the woman was travelling from Jalan Kamunting to Batu Kurau, and made a stop at the Taman Kota Wira bus terminal as she wanted to retrieve some items from her car. As she approached the rear of her car, she was shocked to hear a baby’s cry.
Medical examinations done by doctors in the Taiping hospital has shown that the baby is suffering from dehydration and is experiencing rapid breathing. Looking at the baby’s condition, the doctors have decided to send the baby into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), receiving infant warming assistance.
As of now, the police has yet to receive any information about the baby’s parents and will be launching an investigation under Section 317 of the Penal Code for abandonment of a child. Local authorities have urged for the public to report to the police if they have any information.
