As Malaysians pay respect and mourn for the lost, many have also reached out to the victim’s family, offering them words of comfort and encouragement. Reaching out to the victim’s family, local newspaper China Press reported that one of the victims, Noorfarahimi had spoken to her eldest son, as if she knew what was to come.

Prior to her passing, Noorfarahimi had instructed her 17-year-old son to take care of his younger siblings, aged 10 and 12. On the day of the rehearsals, she even made a call to her husband, informing him of her whereabouts and activities. Shocked by the news of her passing, Noorfarahimi’s sister-in-law spoke to local broadcast channel, RTM, expressing their devastation towards the news.

“We were told that she was looking forward to retirement this year, while my brother who’s serving in the navy is set to retire next year”, she said.

Revealing her retirement plans, Noorfarahimi had discussed with her husband on buying a house in Jitra, where the both of them could spend the rest of their lives together.

Unfortunately, all these plans could never come to a realisation, as the news of her passing shocks her family. Just over 2 weeks ago, the family was said to have return to Jitra for the festive season, before heading back to Selama for Hari Raya.

Our deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic incident. We hope that they’re able to navigate through their loss and find peace.
