SG restaurants are offering salary up to RM104 per hour for employees who want to work during CNY

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is the most important traditional festival in the Chinese calendar.  Just recently, news broke out that restaurants in Singapore have begun their hunt for temporary employees who are willing to work during Chinese New Year.

According to local newspaper China Press, local restaurants in Singapore are offering up to RM104 per hour for part time employees who are willing to work during Chinese New Year. With that said, as compared to last year, the salary increase for temporary workers have increased 30%.

Comparing it to last year, it’s apparent that people have been more accepting and open to gatherings, with plenty of companies arranging for company dinners. Other than that, Singapore based restaurant Wan Xing (transliterated), has reported a 10% increase in table bookings.

“We’re still operating in a more traditional method; therefore, we need the manpower to help out. On average, we would hire a total of 100 temporary workers per month”, said the restaurant.

They added that their bookings are piling up and is estimated to reach its peak by Chinese New Year Eve. As they prepare for the influx of table bookings, the restaurant has estimated that they’d need to hire an additional 80 temporary workers to cope.
