“Oyen has done it again!” Zoo Negara reports that 95% of the visitors are there to see Oyen
Following Oyen’s rise to stardom, the adorable feline was given its own signage at the zoo just awhile back and it has attracted plenty of attention from the public. According to local newswire agency, Bernama, Zoo Negara has reported that over 95% of their visitors are there for one main purpose, and that is to catch a glimpse of Oyen!
Zoo Negara vice president, Rosly@Rahmat Ahmat Lana said that Oyen’s friendship and existence amongst the Capybaras has garnered plenty of attention.
“This is why I call it the star of the zoo”, he said jokingly.
He also shared that the number of visitors has doubled since the Oyen’s appearance, especially during the weekends. At the moment, Oyen is given a separate diet that is more suitable for it, and they’re trying their best to get closer to the cat so they can monitor its health status. Thankfully, as time passes, the relationship between the zookeepers and the feline has improved significantly, making it easier to check on it.
Other than that, the Zoo is also planning on looking for a mate for Oyen! He revealed that the reason they are planning to look for a mate is so that Oyen’s legacy can continue in the future through its offspring.
“Our employees are trying to look for another cat that is about the same age and type as Oyen”, he said.
It’s great to see that Zoo Negara is going through such lengths to ensure that Oyen lives a comfortable and care-free life!
