What would you do if you suddenly found yourself with an extra RM95 million? While that may seem like a far-fetched fantasy for most of us, that was exactly the situation that one Penangite found himself in, after he had struck gold with his fortuitous Sports Toto lottery win, bagging him a whopping RM 95,036,321.25, plus an additional bonus of RM 173,152.00!
Penangite takes home RM95 million from Toto jackpot win
The massive figure, which totals up to RM 95,209,473.25, happens to also be the biggest jackpot figure in Malaysian history. According to a statement that was released on Sports Toto’s official Facebook, the lucky 41-year-old winner, who wants to only be known as ‘Ah Ling’, said that he couldn’t sleep for two whole nights after realising that his personal fortunes have practically skyrocketed overnight.
Working as a machinery supplier, Ah Ling said that he had only started playing the Supreme Toto 6/58 jackpot when the amount had already reached RM70 million, being initially drawn in by the social media hype surrounding it.
“All of my friends were talking about it, so I thought I should also try my luck,” he said.
Requested 2 cheques so he could share the fortune
Betting on System 10, he said that his combination of numbers were inspired by the ages and birth dates of his family members. He would then replace some of the numbers in subsequent draws, resulting in differing combinations.
“My lucky numbers, 5, 12, 20, 22, 29, and 41, was the set of numbers I bet on for the last few draws before I won,” he said.
Recounting how both he and his wife were left in a state of shock and utter disbelief when it was announced that he had won, he said that they had to literally slap one another to make sure that they weren’t dreaming.
Sports Toto shares that the winner had also requested that the winnings be split into two cheques so that he may share his fortune with his wife. The amount that was split however, was not disclosed. Additionally, he also said that he plans to pay off his debts with his money, before donating some of it to charities.
Another winner hailing from Selangor had also managed to bag a smaller, but no less substantial win of RM 2,715,322.65 with an additional bonus of RM 12,289.20.
