One-armed M’sian soldier shares video of him putting on his uniform without assistance, inspires many

Serving at the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and aiming to retire this September, Mohd Hazri Abdul managed to inspire millions on TikTok with a video of him putting on his uniform without any assistance, despite being one-armed.

Speaking to local newspaper New Straits Times, Hazri revealed that he was born normal, however an accident that occurred back on July 19, 2022, has changed his life forever. Recalling the incident, he mentioned that he was on a motorcycle with his friend where they were heading to the Syed Sirajuddin Camp in Gemas from Felda Pasir Besar.

Unfortunately, the pair was met with an accident and Hazri’s left arm was caught on the motorcycle rim. As he was conscious during the accident, Hazri was aware of the seriousness of his condition.

“The doctor told my wife and I that if I don’t amputate my arm, the risk of getting an infection would be really high”, he said, adding that his wife was prepared for any outcome.

Knowing that an amputation is inevitable, Hazri was left with no choice but to accept the harsh reality. Thankfully, the whole ordeal did not dampen his spirits and Hazri was able to continue his duty serving in the Malaysian Armed Forces. When asked if he uses a prosthetic arm, Hazri revealed that he actually does, but as he has not gotten used to it, he rarely uses it. Retiring this September, Hazri decided to record a video of himself putting on his uniform for memory’s sake.

“I didn’t expect the support and encouragement from netizens”, he said expressing his gratitude towards the netizens.

As time passes, Hazri has slowly adapted to his new life and is now able to do plenty things without any assistance. In regard to his new adaptation, Hazri thanked his wife for always being by his side and supporting him, allowing his transition to be almost seamless.
