“The roof had holes in them, meaning they’d get wet if it rains”, he said.

As he spoke to the woman, he found out that she has 7 kids with her ex-husband. Just last year, she married her current husband where she gave birth to 2 children. Unfortunately, her husband hasn’t been feeling well, leading him to not be able to work. With Kak Wati heading out to earn a living, her husband has no choice but to stay home and take care of their kids.

“I ask them for chicken bones so I can make soup and feed my children”, she said.

Determined to help her

Feeling determined to help change Kak Wati and her family’s fate, Chiew asked her what she thinks she’s good at, to which she replied saying that she’s good at cooking Nasi Lemak. Without any hesitation, he brought her to a local supermarket where they purchased everything, she needed to start a small business by the roadside.
