For those who are unfamiliar, Nasi Lemak is a dish that consists of fragrant coconut rice, sambal, an egg and some crunchy peanut and anchovies. This hearty and traditional meal is usually served in a small packet for breakfast.
Nasi Lemak seller gets questioned why he used Chinese newspaper to wrap their pre-packed Nasi Lemak
Just recently, a Malaysian has shared his grouses Twitter, explaining that his wife had decided to sell pre-packed Nasi Lemak. After posting the food they’re offering onto a Facebook group, he received a comment from a netizen that was perceived as distasteful. In the comment sections, the netizen asked them as to why they decided to use a Chinese newspaper to wrap their Nasi Lemak.
“Why are you guys using Chinese newspaper to wrap your Nasi Lemak? It doesn’t feel safe”, commented the netizen.
As the man saw the comment on his wife’s post, he was in disbelief and decided to post his frustration online. In a series of tweets, he expressed how shocked he was to receive the comment and replied to a comment mocking himself saying that he should offer his customers the option to choose which newspapers they’d like their food to be packed in.
Speaking to Wau Post, the man shared that the reason they have Chinese newspapers around is because his wife’s sibling who is in primary school is learning the Chinese language. in order for her sibling to catch up with her studies and familiarise herself with the Chinese characters, they’ve decided to buy her Chinese newspapers so she could practice.
