Ordering food delivery has become a norm in Malaysia, given how much we love our food. And, we have all our dedicated delivery riders to thank for that! But not all deliveries go as smoothly as they should.
M’sian food delivery rider becomes impatient while delivering food
TikTok user Irfan Rizam shared his heartfelt encounter in a 44-second clip. In the video, he explains that he was delivering an order as usual. However, the customer was not returning his calls despite multiple attempts.
“I was starting to become annoyed, plus the weather was scorching hot,” the caption reads. When he heard the customer coming to the door, Irfan recounts still feeling frustrated while recording. “The customer had remarked he was OKU, but I did not believe it,” he writes.
Shocked by what he saw at the door
The moment the customer arrived to collect his food, Irfan was speechless and found himself close to tears. His customer was indeed a disabled uncle confined to a wheelchair. Upon seeing Irfan, the uncle was all smiles as he happily received his meal.
“I felt foolish for being so angry and disbelieving without seeing for myself first,” Irfan admits. Apparently, someone had ordered for the uncle on his behalf, and it appeared that he was living alone.
“To the uncle and the person who placed the order, I am sorry for feeling such things,” Irfan says. He apologized for unintentionally being angry in his heart, and wished them well.
Receives support from netizens everywhere
As Irfan reiterates feeling guilty, netizens chimed in with their support. One comforted him saying, “It’s okay to be angry since we are humans, but seeing how your emotions saddened after realizing the truth, that’s true humanity.”
Others also commended Irfan’s patience, stating that not many would have waited as long. “Good job, if it were other riders, they would have left it at the gate,” a user pointed out. Another user related her own experience when she was pregnant and had sprained her ankle. “I had already remarked I could not walk downstairs, but the rider still left it at the mailbox. I was struggling to walk down with my cane.”
Let this be a lesson to the rest of us to not judge before knowing the whole story. Regardless, well done to Irfan for sticking it out on the job and making this uncle’s day!
