The 19th Asian games held in HangZhou has just began few days back and Malaysia is off to a good start as the e-sports team has managed to obtain a silver medal in the Arena of Valor yesterday!

Prior to obtaining 2nd place, team Malaysia was set to face Vietnam where they were able to score 2-0, advancing into the final rounds. However, the team was bound to face challenges as their final opponent was China.

According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, the China team was pleasantly surprised with Malaysia, as they were able to lead with a score of 2-1 in the first 3 minutes of the game. However, things quickly took a turn for team China as they made a comeback beating team Malaysia at 8-3. Following that, the second round was all China as they beat the team by 10-1, claiming the gold medal.

“We were training for a good 10 to 12 hours a day”, said Malaysia’s captain, Chia Chen.

Despite losing to team China, team Malaysia, which comprises of Chong Han Hui, Eng Jun Hao, Lai Chia Chien, Nicholas Ng Khai Shuan, Ong Jun Yang and Yong Zhan Quan have shown incredible sportsmanship and skills during the competition, earning Malaysia an invite to a world championship game.

Team manager Wong Kang Woon revealed to the Chinese daily that the AoV publishers have invited Malaysia to take part in their professional league this coming December.

“The winning team would be rewarded with $10million USD (RM46 million), so we will start assembling a team when we’re back”, he mentioned, adding that the boys are eager to participate.
