Vacations are often a fun thing to look forward to as it allows you to garner new experiences and get time off to unwind. However, for this couple what was supposed to be good time to bond became a nightmare, as they return to their rooms finding their bags slashed opened.
M’sian couple’s luggage bags in Paris hotel slashed opened
According to a Xiao Hong Shu post by Allen Tee, he shared that he had gone on a trip with his girlfriend to Paris. Knowing that there were cases of pick pockets and theft, they collectively made the decision to stay at a well-known hotel. Unfortunately, as they came back from a day’s worth of exploring the city, they came back to their rooms with all their bags slashed open.
Upon inspection, they found that all their valuable items including their cash, laptop, electronical devices and credit card were all stolen. Following their encounter, he noticed that his stolen credit cards were being used at fast food restaurants. Without any hesitation, he immediately called his bank to suspend his credit card services.
Suspect caught by another guest in the hotel
As the situation unfolds, a guest from the hotel had allegedly caught a glimpse of the thief. Noticing that he was caught red handed, the man attempted to flee the scene. Thankfully, the guest was able to capture two pictures of the thief, providing concrete evidence for Allen.
However, Allen observed that the said hotel allows outsiders to enter freely, accessing to room floors with just a key card. And to that, they suspected that the thief may have an insider working in the hotel, allowing him to escape freely without any suspicion.
Taking his case to a nearby police station, Allen was shocked at how the officers treated his case, displaying signs that cases like his encounters were a normal occurrence.
Following their situation, the pair decided to continue on with their vacation, however they’ve since switched to a different hotel, spending extra money to replace all the items they’ve lost. With that said, they were forced to cancel some of their planned activities. Ending his post, Allen urges the public to be wary of their belongings.
Truly an unfortunate event and we hope it doesn’t happen again. Have you ever experienced something similar? Let us know.
