For many of us who have had the good fortune of being raised by both our parents, we may often take a lot of the moments we share with them for granted. After all, they have always been alongside us during some of life’s most monumental moments, whether it be at the very moment we take our first step as toddlers, or at our graduation ceremonies in university.
10-year-old boy excitedly runs to his late-father’s grave to show him his award from school
But in the case of a young 10-year-old Malaysian boy, only his mother had been able to bear witness to his crowning achievement when he was presented with an award of excellence from his school, after his father had tragically passed away. However, the boy, who had always shared a close bond with his late-father, wanted to make sure that he could share in the moment as well.
After bringing him to the cemetery where his father was buried, TikTok user @arysu87 documented how her youngest son excitedly ran over to his grave, with his award clutched in one hand, before proudly showing it off before his gravestone.
“Allahuakbar… I can feel the tears trickling down my face. My son was always especially close with my husband and was always pampered by him when he was still alive. Now he is here with his award of excellence, sharing the news with his father.” she wrote.
Netizens were moved to tears
According to @arysu87, the award was especially meaningful to her youngest son as he had promised his late-father that he would achieve the award for him. The video, which has since gone viral over social media, had many netizens moved to the brink of tears themselves.
“Congratulations, little boy. May you continue to succeed in life.”
“Allahuakbar, may you become the best child for your beloved family.”
“Why is there suddenly so much dust in my eyes!”
“Congratulations and may you continue to remain strong, little boy.”
In a subsequent video, her youngest son even took it upon himself to thank well-wishers for their prayers.
