More than 8.2 million M’sians to receive phase 1 of Rahmah cash aid today (29 Jan)

As the cost-of-living rises, plenty have been struggling to stay afloat. Apart from the Rahmah initiative, offering meals that are priced at RM5, cash aids have also been announced as part of the initiative to help Malaysians. Following that prime minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that phase one of the Rahmah cash aid, also known as sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), has begun today.

Benefiting over 8.2 million Malaysians, the minister of Finance revealed that the cash aids will be credited into the recipient’s account or channeled in cash via Bank Simpanan Negara (BSN) in stages.

“Cash aids will be given out based on STR’s database and eligibility”, said the prime minister.

Other than that, the minister of finance cum prime minister also mentioned that the phase 1 payment has seen an increase by 33% as compared to 2023. With that said, instead of RM300 recipients with the household income of no more than RM2,500 can expect a maximum of RM500 payout.

Other than that, Malaysians with a household income of RM2,501 to RM5,000 are qualified to receive any amount ranging from RM100 to RM300. Senior citizens with no spouse and single Malaysians can expect a cash aid that ranges from RM150 and RM100 respectively.
