When it comes down to doing favours, many of us may probably be a little cautious when the request has to do with money. And that comes as no surprise, given how many of us have had to tighten our own belts to get by these days, and the concern of how money could get in the way of friendships. But in the case of one netizen, he took to sharing a rather touching tale of how he came to a friend’s aid when she needed it the most.
Generous man lends money to friend so she could enroll in university
As explained by Twitter user @tssulehri1, otherwise known as Talha, in his now viral post, he had been approached by a friend back in 2017 who had expressed an interest to pursue higher education. However at the time, she didn’t have the fund necessary to pay off her university enrollment fee, which amounted to PKR $30,000 (RM619.78).
And while she would eventually manage to return a portion of the money to him during her undergraduate studies, she still owed Talha a debt of about PKR $20,000 (RM413.19). This was in view of the fact that she was only a student at the time and had a number of other financial obligations to pay off.
Five years later, his friend has graduated thanks to his help and has landed her first job
Much to Talha’s surprise five years down the road, the same friend would proceed to text him out of the blue. As it turns out, thanks to the amount that he had lent her previously during what she describes as her ‘toughest time’, she has been able to complete her university studies and has since landed her first job! What’s more, she also made good on her promise and wanted to return the remaining amount that she owed back to him.
Touched by the gesture, Talha has urged those who are granted the opportunity to help others get a head start in their lives to do so in the best of their abilities. However, he also understands that many have grown increasingly wary of such requests, in fear of never seeing the money again.
His post has since gone viral across social media, accruing as many as 18,700 likes to date. Many netizens have applauded him for showing such unreserved generosity when his friend needed it the most.
