Man from Sabah donates his corneas to two individuals after passing away, gifting them the ability of sight

Donating organs is a selfless act that can save lives and improve the quality of life for individuals with organ failure. With that said, it is essential for individuals to communicate their wishes regarding organ donation with their families and, if possible, register as organ donors to ensure that their wishes are known and respected.

Man from Sabah donates his corneas to two patients after passing away

Just recently, local newspaper Sin Chew Daily have reported that a man hailing from Sabah has gifted two patients the ability of sight, by donating his corneas. It was said that Jonathan, the 47-year-old man had passed away due to medical issues. Prior to this, Jonathan graduated with a degree in Computer Information System from Hawaii Pacific Univeristy in Honolulu, United States, in 1999.

Being an expert in computer programming, Jonathan was actively involved in programming associations and often participated as a guest lecturer in ICT-related workshops, in hopes of helping the community delve deeper into the field.

Following the news of his passing and the approval of his family members, Jonathan’s corneas were donated to two individuals, giving them the gift of sight.

“Jonathan has always been kind and would definitely help anyone who is in need”, said his family members.

Thankfully, the corneas that Jonathan donated were successfully transplanted onto two patients at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, providing the two individuals a better life quality.

“The State Health Department would like to extend condolences and our highest appreciation and gratitude towards the family for the organ donation”, said Sabah Health director, Datuk Dr Asits Sanna.

Acknowledging Jonathan’s selflessness even after his passing, Jonathan has become the 9th organ donor in Sabah, further providing a better life quality to those in need.

Rest in peace Jonathan, condolences to his family and thank you for gifting others a better life quality.
