The man revealed that prior to this, they rented a place in Banting and would occasionally sleep over at their relatives’ homes in Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, several issues have crept up on them, resulting into them living in their old maroon vehicle. Razak expressed how guilty he felt as he watched his children sleep in the car but added that he had no other choice to go about this. Due to their difficulties, his oldest child was forced to drop out of school as they couldn’t afford it.

Throughout the 10 months of living in their car, he recalled saying that him and his family have spent countless nights at various locations like Nilai, Banting and even the Karak Highway. On good days where he has some money to spare, he would then take his wife and children to a budget hotel so they could get some proper rest.

“Thankfully, we did not face any problems or disturbance and the police patrols helps ensure our safety”, he said.

When asked about how him and his family survives on a daily basis, he adds that he works as a roadside mechamic that helps fix cars that break down at the highway. Razak expressed his interest in renting a house so that his family can have a place to stay but mentioned that the money he gets would be used to prioritise daily essentials like food, disposable diapers and milk.

He mentioned that he had some money saved up in case of an emergency, but his car had broken down and he had no choice but to spend it on fixing the car. To add on to his burden, Razak has discovered a lump growing on his neck and has to be admitted to the Termeloh Hospital.

“I would need to head on for surgery to remove the lump most likely by tomorrow”, he said.

Fortunately, the family’s living condition has been noticed by the social welfare department (JKM), who has since gotten in touch with him after the post went viral. Razak expressed his desires to live around Karak and hopes to receive some form of assistance to pay the advance payment for a house as he is unable to afford it at the moment.

He mentioned saying that he hopes that his surgery would allow him to recover well so he could continue looking for a job to support his family’s livelihood.

Speedy recovery Razak, may you and your family receive the assistance needed.
