Celebrating Hari Raya over the weekend, many Malaysians have headed back to their hometowns. In a recent video showcasing Malaysians acceptance towards diverse cultures, a Malay family has hired a lion dance troupe during their Raya open house!

According to a video on TikTok, a lion dance troupe was seen performing at an open house. While this may be a common scene during Chinese New Year, what’s special about this performance is that it was performed during Hari Raya!
Speaking to Wau Post, the lion dance team shared that the event took place back in Tambunan, Sabah. Infusing the festive season of Hari Raya and vibrant tradition of lion dances, the team managed to come up with a special Hari Raya lion dance edition.
“The event was indeed a special occasion where the homeowner invited us to perform at their open house gathering”, they mentioned.

To complement the festive season of Hari Raya, they showcased their green lion dance, meticulously selected to complement the Hari Raya theme adding to the festive atmosphere. Being available all year round, the team prides itself for being able to bring cultural joy to events and celebrations.
Sharing more about their performance, they mentioned that the invitation was special to the homeowner because of their deep appreciation for lion dance.
“The homeowner’s younger brother is an avid fan of lion dance”, they said.
