STPM which stands for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia is a pre-university course taken by many students in Malaysia before continuing their tertiary studies. With the results being announced, Amsyar Muawiyah Mohd. Sofi was definitely in tears of joy after finding out that her hard work and dedication has paid off.
M’sian cleaner’s daughter scores a perfect 4.0 score in her STPM!
Scoring a CGPA of 4.0, Amsyar Muawiyah residing in Penang was one of the 70 top students who scored well in their examination. Studying in Haji Zainul Abidin Sixth Form College after her secondary studies, the 20-year-old student revealed to local newspaper Kosmo! that she sacrificed and worked hard to achieve such amazing results.
Persevering and making sacrifices to ensure that she would score well in her papers, Amsyar owed a big part of her success to her mother, who is working as a janitor at the Penang Court. Earning only a mere RM1,500 a month, Amsyar understood at a young age the sacrifices and hard work her mother has to go through in order to raise her.

“My father passed away suddenly back in 2020 and my mother had to take up the role as the breadwinner, supporting my sibling and I”, she said.
Seeing her mother’s dedication and effort in taking care of her and her sibling, she then vowed to herself that she would try her best for her pre-university papers. Despite the challenges they had to face a family, coping with loss and grief, Amsyar’s mother would always remind her that education is the way to change their family’s fate.
Taking her mother’s words seriously, Amsyar then began prepping for her papers, dedicating up to 3 hours of self-revision. Despite not attending any extra tuition lessons, she didn’t let it stop her from getting amazing results.

Wanting to become a teacher, Amsyar hopes that her story and hard work can inspire others to also pursue their dreams, especially when it comes to education.
