While there are plenty of people who strive to be kind to others, it’s inevitable that a handful of them would misuse their kindness, taking it for granted. Just recently, a Malaysian man has shared a story onto his social media about his experience with treating a beggar to lunch at a nasi kandar restaurant.
M’sian man treats beggar to a nasi kandar meal, shocked to find out that the bill was RM70
According to the man’s post on X, he shared that he was at a nasi kandar restaurant located in Ampang. As he was about to purchase his own meal, he came across a beggar. The beggar approached him and asked if he could buy him a meal. Without much hesitation, the man decided to treat the man to a meal.
“I told him to just get a meal for himself and I will cover his bill”, said the man.
The beggar then quickly packed his lunch and left hastily after briefly saying thank you to him. As he headed over to the counter to pay, he was shocked to find out that the total bill was a whopping RM70. And upon checking the bill, he found out that the beggar who approached him had taken dishes including beef, chicken, prawn and squid.
Following his post, plenty of netizens have commented on the issue he encountered and here’s what some of them said:
“This sounds bitter. I hope God replaces your pain with ten folds of blessings.”
“Opportunist to the max.”
“May God offer your tenfold of blessings as you’ve fed someone else out of your own money.”
“This way of offering the less fortunate is actually quite dangerous. I tried this one when I was at a mamak. One of the beggars approached me and I told him to order his meal, I will take care of his meal. He then brought his entire clique and the total for the bill became RM80 for 6 people. Better to just give them RM1 next time.”
