In the latest development surrounding former Prime Minister Najib Razak’s bid to overturn his conviction over charges in connection with the RM42 million SRC International case, it has been reported by news outlet The Vibes that a five member bench at Federal Court has since rejected his review application in a non-unanimous decision.

As reported by South China Morning Press, the ruling was split between a vote of 4 to 1 among the 5 member bench that Najib had failed on all three counts in his challenge to set aside his conviction.

This comes after the imprisoned premier, who was earlier sentenced by the Federal Court to 12 years in Kajang Prison in addition to being slapped with a RM210 million fine back in August of 2022, had attempted to seek for leave to review the decision.

He arrived earlier this morning at the Federal Court in a silver SUV surrounded with a police escort, and was greeted by supporters who have been gathering around the court complex since 7.00am.

Najib was also joined by his embattled wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and his children Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin, Datuk Mohd Nizar Najib and Nooryana Najwa Najib, in a show of support.

This will mean that his conviction and sentence will continue to be upheld, and he will be made to serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars. Previously, Najib was acquitted earlier this month over accusations of using his authority to call for the tampering of 1MDB’s audit reports, alongside former 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
