For many of us who have been living in the Klang Valley, you will no doubt have heard about the sudden flash flood incidents that have been cropping up across a number of major metropolitan areas as of late. Or perhaps, you may have even witnessed them yourself while out and about. With floodwaters reaching high, many business operators have been left in a lurch and were forced to temporarily suspend operations for the sake of safety.
Determined food delivery rider trudges through floodwaters to collect order
However, some continue to remain adamant to work through the flooding, including one determined food delivery rider who was recently caught on video trudging through floodwaters to collect an order from a flood-stricken café here. According to botanic-themed café Brew n Bloom, which is located in the Bukit Jalil suburbs, they had earlier received an order through a food delivery app just as their premises were struck by the floods on Monday (7th March 2022).
Unwilling to put the food delivery rider who was dispatched to their café through with the trouble of travelling into a waterlogged part of town, they explained that they had attempted to contact him ahead of time to save him the trip.
“We told him that we could cancel the order and inform the customer later. It’s just a cup of coffee after all. You don’t have to come all the way over.” they said.
‘I can park my motorbike up the road and walk to your café,’
However much to their surprise, the food delivery rider told them that it was no trouble at all, and that he would stop his motorbike a little further down the road where it was dry and walk to their café!
And true to his word, the man did eventually turn up clad in a raincoat, before collecting the order from the café staff and making his way back out into the heavy rain again.
“This kind of attitude is really commendable. The delivery rider is really worthy of respect.” they added.
As one can expect, netizens have lauded the man’s willingness to go the extra mile in his work and have urged the café to offer him a tip for his services.
“Offer him a tip!”
“Be sure that you offer him a tip!”
However, some netizens have also reminded others against making delivery orders during inclement weather, as it could put delivery riders at risk.
“His spirit is really commendable and hard to come by, Be sure to give him more tips, and if possible, avoid making orders during the rain. These food delivery riders often take many risks to make a delivery in poor weather.”
