Regardless of one’s job title, it’s important to note that their contributions towards the company is crucial. Just awhile back, a Singapore based restaurant group, Paradise Group, has made its wave on social media after gifting over 98 Rolex watches to their staffs as a token of appreciation. Following their story, The Straits Times have revealed that one of the recipients for the luxury watch, is cleaner Tan Ai Tee.

Madam Tan shared to The Straits Times saying that she has been working for Paradise Group for 10 years and has never owned a Rolex watch her entire life. She expressed how grateful she was that her bosses recognised her for the work she has done for the company and was surprised to have been included in the list to receive a luxury watch.

“I never expected myself to be able to get a Rolex watch especially because I’ve only been working part-time for them as a cleaner”, she said.

She mentioned that ever since she started working for the Paradise Group back in 2013, she has always felt a strong sense of belonging in the company. Back in 2013, Madam Tan joined as a kitchen staff for one of the restaurants, serving customers and sorting out orders until the restaurant closed in 2016.

As the restaurant ceased its operations, she then headed over to the group’s headquarters and began working as a cleaner, coming in five days a week from 8am to 2pm, keeping the workspace clean and tidy.

“All the people here are nice to me and would always share food with me”, she said.

Over the years, Madam Tan has received various gifts from her company, including a 2.5g Suisse gold bar and a 5g gold bar for her 5th and 8th year of service. When asked about retirement, she mentioned that as of now she has got no plans to retire. Despite being 67 years old, she revealed that she will continue to work for them for as long as she can. She believes that as long as she is healthy and able to do her job she will continue.

“It helps me stay active, I think I would fall sick easily if I were to stop”, she said, adding that she is appreciative of her bosses recognising her for her work.
