For the longest time now, any Malaysians who want to purchase an Apple product will have no choice but to do so through the company’s authorised resellers or through telco companies, as the Cupertino-based computer giant does not have an official presence here. But apparently, that might be set to change in the near future as it would now seem that the company is actively recruiting retail staff to join them in Malaysia!

Apple lists vacancies for retail staff in Malaysia, hinting at official store launch

While no plans have been officially announced by Apple as of now, a quick gander through the recruitment tab on their website, Jobs at Apple, show that vacancies based locally are currently now open for application. This was first highlighted by Twitter user Nazri Ishak (@techsupremo).

By searching for vacancies in Malaysia, we were able to find a total of 13 jobs listed. Among them, 11 are categorised under the Apple Retail category, based out of Malaysia. These include vacancies for Managers, Senior Managers, Store Leaders, Operation Experts, Business Pros, Business Experts, Technical Specialists, Creative staff, and even Genius Bar staff.

The 11 vacancies appear appear to have been listed just earlier today (December 15th, 2022). But most curiously, the roles seem to indicate that Apple may have a larger retail network for Malaysia in mind, as they are meant to be based out of ‘various locations’ in the country.

First outlet may be located at Tun Razak Exchange

With that said, this isn’t the first time that rumours have been swirling concerning the company’s official entry into the Malaysian market, as back in 2021, it was claimed that the computer giant may open their very first flagship store in the soon-to-be-open Tun Razak Exchange (TRX). In fact, a photo of a glowing Apple store logo allegedly taken from the construction site of the TRX retail district was circulated across the Skyscraper City forums.

And with these vacancies being advertised on their official site, it looks like we may be even closer to having our own Apple store than we think! To date, Apple has only set up five official Apple stores in the Southeast Asian region, starting with Singapore’s first outlet in Orchard Road, which was followed by two subsequent outlets in the island state. This is on top of the two stores currently open in neighbouring Thailand.

If you’re keen to join the Apple team, then be sure to mosey on over and drop your application! We wish you the best of luck.
