Just yesterday, news broke out that MYAirline will be temporarily suspending their operations due to financial pressures. This news comes as a shock to many as it was too sudden. Following the news, other airlines in Malaysia including AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines have decided to offer discounts up to 55% to help affected passengers.
AirAsia, Firefly & Malaysia Airlines offers discount for passengers
According to the airlines’ respective social media pages, the said airlines will be offering discounts for passengers who are affected by the temporary suspension. Looking at AirAsia‘s announcement, it was reported that passengers who have purchased MYAirline tickets heading to and from Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Tawau, Kota Baru, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, and Bangkok’s Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports can enjoy a 50% off their tickets.
The promotion is said to have begun from October 12 and will end on November 30. In order to be eligible for the promotion, affected passengers can present their MYAirline tickets at these respective counters:
- KL Sentral
- Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2), Sepang
- Penang International Airport
- Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Baru
- Kuching International Airport
- Tawau Airport
- Kota Kinabalu International Airport
- Don Mueang International Airport
- Suvarnabhumi Airport
Other than that, Malaysia Airlines have also invited MYAirline to collaborate to help relocate all their affected passengers to their flight where available. In addition to that, the national carrier has also announced that passengers who need to travel urgently may proceed to any of their ticketing office and present their MYAirline ticket for a 55% discount.
While it is disheartening to see that many passengers were affected, we are still glad to see other airlines stepping up to help ease the distress of the passengers.
