African couple thanks M’sian kopitiam for giving them a chance to sell their local cuisine there

If there’s one thing similar about Africa and Malaysia, it would definitely be how diverse how foods are! From fufu to jollof rice, there’s bound to be something that suits your taste. Just recently, an African couple has gone viral after sharing their story in a TikTok video.

Watching the TikTok video for ourselves, the man shared that he’s been in Malaysia for over 10 years. However, due to Covid-19 he was forced to look into something that could support their livelihood. Unfortunately, it was no easy feat for them as they were turned down by many restaurants.

Thankfully, after searching for some time, they managed to find a kopitiam, Big Three kopitiam, that was more than happy to welcome them. The kopitiam then gave the couple a chance to sell their African delicacies, providing them with a means to support themselves.

“When we first started out over 2 years ago, only a handful of them are willing to try our food. It was a struggle to get people to try our food”, he said.

But things started looking up as people were more accepting to try their food. When asked about their famous dishes, he mentioned that Malaysians love having their stew with rice.

Taking the opportunity, the man then expressed his gratitude for the kopitiam. He thanked them for giving them the chance to make a living, as well as sharing their local delicacies to fellow Malaysians.
