Actor from M’sian film “Abang Adik” wins best actor award at the 60th Golden Horse Awards

Following that, a Malaysian film, Abang Adik was one of the top winners at the Golden Horse Awards, bagging the Best leading Actor Award. Directed by local filmmaker Ong Lay Jin, Abang Adik portrays the depth and resilience of human spirit as a stateless, deaf-mute individual in Malaysia’s labor class.

Talented Taiwanese actor, Wu Kang-Ren, managed to win the award by playing Abang in the movie. In his acceptance speech, the actor thanked the Malaysian cast and crew for their services and roles, in bringing the story to life.

Other than that, he also dedicated his award to his co-star Jack Tan, who helped him very much with his pronunciation and proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia.

Abang Adik is a movie based on two undocumented orphans who are deaf and mute living in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. The story revolves around how the duo would have to fend for themselves and each other. It highlights the difficulties, that isn’t only limited to parental absence, but also their fundamental rights as humans.
