M’sian sister pens heartfelt post to public in hopes of finding a liver donor for her brother

Watching a loved one go through health struggles is truly disheartening, especially when you’re unable to be provide any assistance other than emotional support. Just recently, a Malaysian woman has penned a heartfelt post on her social media, in hopes that they’re able to look for a liver donor for her older brother.

According to Lunnie’s post on Instagram, she shared a distraught news where her older brother is currently struggling with acute liver failure. Speaking to Wau Post, she mentioned that he is currently admitted into Singapore General Hospital and has been there for over 3 weeks.

With his condition being critical, the doctors have advised his brother to undergo a transplant surgery. After extensive research and meetings with several specialists, the family found out that the liver can regenerate itself in a matter of weeks and full recovery post-surgery would take another 2 -3 weeks,

“We’ve weighed out the risks and believe that a transplant surgery would be a life-saving outcome for him”, said Lunnie.

However, in order for his brother to undergo the surgery, they would have to locate a liver donor with O blood type, which is incredibly difficult. Having little to no options, Lunnie then turned to social media, in hopes that the public would be able to share the news and help save her brother’s life.

“In our family, my mother is the only one with O blood type however, doctors have advised against my mother to be a donor as she is old”, she mentioned.

Ending her post, Lunnie hopes that they’re able to find a match for his brother. Understanding that it’s a big ask, Lunnie emphasized that they welcome potential donors to inquire and learn about it, before making a decision.
