If there is one thing that has been weighing heavily on the minds of many Malaysians, it’s how the cost of living in the country has been rising exponentially over the past few years. Consequently, this has also made eating out at restaurants and eateries more expensive than before, with many food businesses finding ways to combat hikes in raw ingredient prices and other operating expenditures.
M’sian shocked to find tiny portions of roast meat from RM16 meal
In that vein, one Malaysian was in for quite a shock after she claims to have visited T&R by Sean and Angie in SS2. As shared by netizen @cassandradm over Instagram Stories, she explains how she had paid RM16 for a plate of rice with siew yoke (roast pork belly) and charsiew (caramalised barbecued pork).
However when the dish was brought to her table, she was surprised to discover that the portions that she had been served with were far less than she had anticipated. Alongside a mound of rice, the plate only came with a few slices of caramalised barbecued pork, and four pieces of roast pork belly. This was finally accompanied with some slivers of cucumber.
“I don’t usually do this, but this has to be publicised.”
“Their char siew [barbecued pork] sedap [delicious]. but portion wise nah. Won’t come back again.” she remarked.
Restaurant staff allegedly told her it was a normal portion
In speaking with Wau Post over the matter, she clarified that her father had checked with the restaurant’s staff if the measly portions that they were served had been the normal amount, to which they were told ‘yes’. Cassandra adds that the restaurant did not provide any further justification on the matter either, even after she had sent them messages over Instagram to relay her complaints.
When asked if the restaurant had specified the portions of their meals on the menu, she said that it was not outlined on their menu. Cassandra has also received feedback from other diners who have visited the restaurant previously, who informed her that they used to have ‘good’ portions of roast meats.
What’s more, she has looked into the restaurant’s Google reviews page to gauge the remarks of other consumers and found that mentions on the serving sizes at the restaurant were inconsistent.

This was corroborated with our checks on the restaurant’s Google reviews that yielded similar results, with a good bulk of diners enjoying the restaurant’s food, while some commented on the smaller than expected portions. Wau Post has reached out to the proprietors for comment on the issue.
