As parents, there can be no circumstance more harrowing and terrifying than to imagine your child being hurt, or worse. However for the parents of one 7-year-old schoolgirl, not even their worst nightmares could compare to the reality of her untimely passing yesterday after being run over on her way from school (12th November 2021).
Young girl dies after being run over by van
As reported by Harian Metro, a young girl suffered from severe head injuries and passed away after the van that had been scheduled to drop her off from school at a nursery accidentally struck her, before running over her. The incident was said to have taken place at Taman Dahlia, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang.
According to CCTV footage that was obtained from a house located directly across from when the accident took place, the young girl had alighted from the van and had been standing right in-front of it. The van driver, a 31-year-old woman, was said to have been unaware when she stepped on the accelerator to leave, before running over the 7-year-old.

Upon realising that she had struck the girl, what appears to be the driver of the van immediately got out and cradled the girl in her arms as staff members from the nursery rushed out in a state of panic. The little girl later succumbed from her injuries while being treated in Nilai Medical Centre at 2:30pm later that day.
Astro Awani reports that early investigations into the incident revealed that the van driver had not noticed the little girl standing in front of her vehicle. Her body will be transported to Hospital Putrajaya for an autopsy, while the driver has been detained and will now be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987.
