In jobs that require a certain degree of physical finesse, such as law enforcement or the military, training exercises are mandatory to ensure that little to no mishaps would happen. Unfortunately, a weapons training exercise has resulted in the deaths of two officers, leaving one injured. The incident was reported to have occurred yesterday around 12.10pm at Syed Sirajuddin Camp in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.

Three officers were involved in the mishap, which was believed to have been triggered by a grenade explosion during a weapons training exercise. According to local newspaper Harian Metro, one of the victims, 22-year-old Lieutenant Mohd Iqmal Masdi, was a student died on the spot. Two other training officials, Corporal Mohd Syuib Bidin, 33, and Corporal Khairulzaman Lokman, 35, were rushed to Segamat Hospital in Johor for treatment.

Unfortunately, Corporal Syuib eventually succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment and was pronounced dead at 5.45pm yesterday. Meanwhile, Corporal Khairulzaman is currently reported to be in stable condition.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force took to their social media to confirm the unfortunate events and extended their condolences to family members of the deceased. In addition, they assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the explosion.

In the meantime, members of the public are advised not to make assumptions or spread misinformation as a show of respect to the grieving families. It is hoped that no further speculation should circulate around the matter until all investigations have been cleared.
