Where electric cars are concerned, it’s hard to deny the meteoric rise and sheer prominence that American carmaker Tesla has within the industry. Founded 20 years ago back in 2003 by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, the company would go on to gain international recognition with the introduction of the first-generation Tesla Roadaster sportscar, followed by the commercial success of their Model S sedan.

Now, the company’s name has almost become synonymous with electric vehicles, what with their widespread adoption among the wealthy and the famous, as well as being constant features in movies, television shows, and music videos.

And while locals here have never been able to officially purchase a Tesla car through the company directly, given their lack of a presence here, it was announced earlier during the year that they will soon be entering the Malaysian market soon.

This was made possible through assistance by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry via the launch of the BEV Global Leaders initiative, with Tesla signing on as its very first applicant.

Company hiring in Malaysia ahead of official debut

Now, it would appear that the company’s decision to formally establish an outpost in Malaysia is beginning to materialise, judging from a series of new job vacancies that were recently advertised on the company’s official website. A quick glance on Tesla’s vacancies’ page indicate that they are now hiring 10 different positions to be based out of Kuala Lumpur.

Three of these positions will be dedicated to Sales and Customer Support, while another three will go towards Operations & Business Support. They are also hiring a position each dedicated to product developments for home charging systems, a local recruiter, an IT support technician, as well as a construction and real-estate project manager.

This corroborate’s the company’s initial claim of establishing Experience Centres, in addition to bringing their Supercharger network into Malaysia. No word yet on when the first Tesla experience centre is set to open, though. So if you’re looking to join the team, consider applying through their official website by tapping here!
