Just a little over a month ago, Tesla has made its wave on social media, as they announce that they were looking to hire and over 5,000 candidates have showed up for the interview. Following that, it has been announced that the American electric vehicle (EV) and clean energy company is set to debut later this month.

Happening on July 20, Tesla Malaysia will be having its unveiling in Pavilion KL centre court. According to local newspaper China Press, media invitations sent out by Tesla have expressed how delighted they are to be able to share their visions with Malaysia. It also stated how Tesla is committed to change the world one step at a time, by sourcing for sustainable energy.

Other than that, Tesla Malaysia’s Instagram page was said to be up and running with however the official website is still under maintenance and currently not available. The local newspaper has also shared that the official lineup and blueprint for Tesla Malaysia has yet to be released and it will only be revealed during the launching.

While it is unclear as to which models the American EV company would bring in, many have speculated that just like other Southeast Asia countries, Tesla will be bringing in the Model Y and Model 3. In Singapore, the starting price for a Model Y sits at $87,990SGD (RM303,657) while Model 3 is priced at $75,990SGD (RM262,244). Looking at the price range, it’s possible that Tesla might price the cars at around RM260,000 to RM300,000.

Following that, local English mail, NST has reported that the Ministry of Transport is looking into introducing a special registration number plate for EV vehicles. This is to help local authorities take necessary precautions and safety measures to handle EV-related emergencies.
