Taste Atlas: Penang ranks 39 out of 100 for Best Food Regions in the World!

Malaysia is a country filled with diversity and a wide variety of food. With that said, plenty of tourists would choose to visit Malaysia, in hopes of experiencing the culture and amazing food that’s available. Just recently, Taste Atlas released a list comprising of best food regions in the world!

Penang ranks 39 out of 100 for Best Food Regions in the World!

Looking at the list, the top three spots in the list were claimed by Italy and Indonesia, with Campania gaining 4.60 in rating, Emilia-Romagna at 4.57 and Java, Indonesia at 4.51. Following the list, it was stated that Crete, Greece, Sicily, Italy and Guagdong, China followed closely behind, garnering ratings of 4.49, 4.48 and 4.44 respectively.

And according to the list, with a rating of 4.21, Penang, a small island located in Malaysia has managed to claim a spot in the list!

Recommending what visitors should get when they head to Penang, Taste Atlas shared a few staple dishes, which included Assam Laksa, Penang Hokkien Mee, Apam Balik, Rotiboy and Nasi Kandar! Other honorary mentions included Char Kuey Teow and Lam Mee.

Prior to this, a popular dish in Malaysia, Roti Canai has also bagged the second spot in the top 100 best street food category! As shared over their official social media pages back in February, roti canai managed to make it in the top 3 category, only being eked out by guotie, otherwise known as pan-fried dumplings, from China for the top spot.

With the amount of food and dishes recommended by the Croatia-based experiential food guide, it’s safe to say that Malaysia is truly home to many good foods that are able to cater to everyone’s liking!
