For many of us who had the experience of taking flights to travel the world, there are certain protocols that we are required to follow to ensure our safety. With that said, one of the most important rule to follow would be to switch off our devices during landing and take-offs.

However, just yesterday, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has released a statement, mentioning that the switching-off of devices during take-offs and landings are no longer required for passengers who will be taking a flight with Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings.

This is because the airlines listed above are the first airlines that enable Gate-to-Gate connectivity for passengers by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). At the moment, passengers who embark on the aircraft would be required to switch off their personal electronic devices during take-offs and landings.

With the latest technology development, starting from July 1, 2023, passengers would only need to enable their “flight mode” on their devices and can proceed to use their devices from take-off all the way until they disembark from the aircraft.

Other than that, for those who are flying Business Suite and Business Class, Malaysia airlines will now provide complimentary WiFi from July 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Their offer is also extended to Enrich Platinum members, regardless of their class of travel. However, it is worth noting that the free WiFi is only available on the 20 aircrafts that are equipped with WiFi.

Following the statement, the CEO of MAG Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said that they are committed to providing exceptional customer service and innovative travel experiences which places customers at the heart of everything they do.

“By enabling gate-to-gate connectivity across all our airlines, it allows passengers to stay connected throughout their journey with us; whether it’s to keep their loved ones updated on the move or even get some work done during their flight”, he said.

Subsequently, as part of their connectivity strategy, they will be actively expanding the number of their aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi to provide an improved in-flight experience to their valued customers. With a focus on safety, comfort, and convenience, they are dedicated to making air travel more accessible and enjoyable for all of their passengers.
