For those who are unfamiliar, SpaceX is a company set up by famous entrepreneur Elon Musk. Following the news of Tesla launching in Malaysia last week, just yesterday (July 25), the American based company has announced its newest product launch in Malaysia, Starlink.

According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, Starlink is now offering their satellite broadband internet service with a 100Mbps download speed at the price of RM220. However, it’s worth noting that there will be no binding of contracts as users would be required to purchase their starter kit, which includes a Wi-Fi router, cables, an electronic phased array antenna and a base that’s suited for ground installation.

For residential users and everyday Internet applications, the company has recommended the standard version, which retails for RM2,300 while power users and enterprise applications, should go for the performance kit, which is priced at RM11,613.

Other than that, the company has claimed that the performance kit has better weather resistance, faster speed at temperatures over 35° and better visibility, especially in areas that are prone to obstructions.

Following that, it was said that Malaysia is the 60th country to receive its satellite service. In the SEA region, Malaysia is the 2nd to receive its service, coming after Philippines.
