Back in 2021, Elson, who works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jokingly said to Yong that he’d want to marry the buttermilk crispy chicken burger as it was his favourite item in the menu. Yong who is an employee under the Changi Airport group then sportingly suggested that they should tie the knot at McDonald’s and the both of them had a good laugh.

As time passes, the lovebirds realised that it wasn’t necessarily a bad idea as they wanted a fun and relaxing solemnisation ceremony. Speaking to the daily mail, Yong shared that the idea to get married in McDonald’s is a perfect representation of their personalities.

Fun and easy, we’re McLovin it!

“We love things that are easy and fuss-free”, she said adding that she wanted a ceremony where her guests could also dress comfortably.

When the pair told their parents about it, they thought it was a prank but as time passes, they warmed up to the idea and were very supportive of their decision. Yong added that their parents were happy with the idea as it was an intimate party. After speaking to the restaurant’s manager, they were able to book the venue and food for $700SGD (RM2,380).

“I was able to book the pavilion on a weekday as it wasn’t as crowded, and we had our wedding invitations designed as coupons for our guests”, said Yong.

Following their unique ceremony, with the help of family and friends, they were able to decorate the pavilion with some flowers, drapes and balloons. As their guests arrive, they were delighted to see that most of their guests came in red and yellow outfits, fitting to their theme.
