Looking at the lineup, the first major change that was spotted is the replacement of the health minister. With that said, former health minister, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is set to take over the position from Dr Zaliha Mustafa. Prior to this, Dr Dzulkefly held the position as the health minister for two years, during the reign of Pakatan Harapan.

Other than that, deputy finance minister II, Steven Sim has been promoted and will be taking on the role as Minister of Human Resources, replacing V Sivakumar, who has been involved in recent corruption accusations. Following Sim’s promotion, Amir Hamzah Azizan, CEO of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be taking over his position, while Lim Hui Ying has been shuffled from Deputy Education Minister to Deputy Finance Minister.

In similar news, the communications and digital ministry has also split into two parts, where Gobind Singh will step in and share responsibilities with current Digital Communications minister, Fahmi Fadzil. Following the passing of the Minister of Domestic Trades back in July, it was reported that the position is now held by Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

When asked about the aim behind the reshuffling of the cabinet, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the reshuffling of cabinet has taken place in order to meet the current demands and situations presented.

All the new ministers will be sworn in today at 2:30pm at Istana Negara.
