And because of how popular and commonplace it is, the Myvi has also been cemented into the minds of many Malaysians as being the undisputed King of The Road, a reputation it has earned for finding itself in some of the most bizarre, unthinkable circumstances. In fact just recently, the Perodua Myvi might just be able to add another feather to it’s cap in dealing with floodwaters.

As many of you will no doubt have known, multiple parts of the Klang Valley have been experiencing torrential rainfall that has led to flash floods occurring in a number of areas. And understandably, many vehicles have been left stranded as a result of the rapids.

King of the floodwaters

However, you may be surprised to know that despite its size, A first-generation Perodua Myvi is apparently more than capable of holding its own when it comes down to fording through floodwaters after a clip uploaded on a Mazda owners Facebook group shows a cheerful red unit driving effortlessly through murky waters. What was all the more surprising was the fact that a considerably larger Mazda SUV could be seen parked alongside the Myvi with its hazard lights on, seemingly rendered immobile by floodwaters.

While this is by no means an apples to apples comparison between both cars, many have taken to the video’s comments section to applaud the subcompact car for its ability to handle even the worst of inclement weather.

Others have pointed out the fact that the Myvi’s air intake vents are positioned much higher, which may have helped it to cross floodwaters with lesser risk of the water seeping into the car’s engine.

However, one netizen claims that the Mazda SUV was not in fact stalled by waterlogging, but was brought to a stop by its driver out of fear that driving through the floodwaters would damage their car.
