Do the crime, do the time as the old saying would go. Which is to say that one can only expect to face legal consequences of should they be found guilty of committing an offense.

But two detainees clearly didn’t agree with that rhetoric, and have made a bold attempt to escape from the reaches of law enforcement after they were initially arrested.

2 Indonesian men escaped from vehicle that was transporting them to prison

Just yesterday (April 11), local authorities received a report concerning how two Indonesian men had somehow managed to make an escape from police custody while being transported on the way to prison. It was reported by local newspaper Sin Chew Daily that the two men were charged at the Kota Tinggi court for entering the country illegally without any travel documents.

Subsequently, the two escaped detainees, along with 2 other Indonesian nationals were found guilty for an offence under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. All four were sentenced to 6 months of jail time in Ledang prison.

Kulai district police chief Superintendent Tok Beng Yeow explained that at 11:20am, three Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Officers were assigned to transport them from court to prison. While en route to their destination, two of the detainees were able to break off the chain that was binding them together and forced the rear door of the vehicle open before jumping off to escape.

“They were then seen running into an oil palm plantation located at Jalan Felda Inas”, he said to BERNAMA.

Following that, a manhunt for the two escapees was called and an investigation under Section 223 of the Penal Code for escaping from confinement has been lodged. The two men were later identified as Riki Rinaldi and Samirudin, aged 40 and 36 respectively.

Police have urged the public to keep an eye out for the two wanted individuals, and are urged to contact the police at 07-6637222 with any information they may have in connection with the case.
